It’s time for our Fall Shred Day! Whether you’re a first-timer or a seasoned shredder, we’ve got you covered with answers to your most frequently asked questions.

Our free shred days are designed to help you securely dispose of sensitive documents. It’s an opportunity to safely shred papers containing personal information, reducing the risk of identity theft and ensuring that confidential documents are properly destroyed.

We host two events each year and they’re very popular. In fact, at our recent events, the shred truck was filled before the event even concluded. Once the truck reaches capacity, we can no longer accept additional items. To make sure your documents are shredded, arrive early!

How does Shred Day work?

We ask that you please stay in your car and an IH team member will grab your shred items. This way we can keep the lines moving.

How many bags are allowed and what type of bags?

We have a limit of three paper grocery bags per car. And we don’t allow business documents.

What can be shredded?

Any documents containing personal information you want securely disposed of. Examples include any financial statements, bank records, canceled checks, credit card statements, medical records, legal documents, payroll information, social security numbers, investment data, address book, addressed mail, etc.

What can’t be shredded?

Staples, paper clips and rubber bands are all OK, however, please be sure to remove 3-ring binders, large binder clips, plastics or metals. The following items are not accepted plastic or metal items, large bound volumes (e.g., books), electronic media (e.g., CDs, DVDs). These items will be returned to you.

What happens to the paper after it’s shredded?

The shredded paper is processed for recycling and the vast majority is re-pulped into standard household products such as bathroom tissue, Kleenex and paper towels.
